The Swine Flu Pandemic – Facts and Fiction

On June 11th 2009, American health officials declared a “pandemic” a public health emergency as 28,774 people got infected by the A(H1N1).Most of those infected rapidly recovered, and did not need medical treatment however, 144 have died. As of now at least 22 million Americans have been infected with H1N1, with 3,900 deaths, according to data from the CDC. 21 U.S. children having died from H1N1 during the past week.

According to CDC Each year in the United States on average, 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications, and; about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes.

Flu-related deaths can result from pneumonia and from exacerbation of cardiopulmonary conditions and other chronic diseases. Deaths of older adults account for more than 90% of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza.

World Health Organization reported that as of October 11, 2009 more then 399,232 laboratory confirmed cases of pandemic influenza H1N1, of which 4735 result in deaths. That is 4,735 deaths in the ENTIRE world, not just the US! Most all of these deaths whore people with compromise immune system.

To give you a perspective as a direct result of the malaria infection ONE MILLION (2740/day) people die EVERY YEAR, worldwide.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), almost two billion people-one third of the world’s population-are infected with tuberculosis (TB) bacteria. Each year eight million new cases of TB appear, along with three million TB-related deaths. In the United States alone it is estimated that 10 million to 15 million people are infected with the TB bacterium, and 22,000 new cases of TB occur each year.

Obesity, along with it’s related diseases (Diabetes & Cardiovascular Disease), is the number one killer. Overweight problems affect over 70% of people diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases. Overweight health challenges also leads to an estimated 80% of non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients in the United States alone.

As of now less than 13 people per day died from the swine flu in the past year, worldwide and most died not as a direct result of the swine flu virus, but from having poor immune function which led to serious secondary infections and complications. The prestigious British Medical Journal published analysis of several flu pandemics concluding that the H1N1 swine flu is of “the same subtype as seasonal H1N1 that has been circulating since 1977.” The author points out the very low level of scientific certainty that H1N1 is more severe than other seasonal influenza.
