Fatigue is not inevitable!

Why don’t I have energy? Why is so hard for me to get out of bed in the morning? Why do I run out of energy in the afternoon and need an extra cup of coffee to keep going?

Many women suffering from fatigue ask this questions everyday. We often attribute it to age, as though it were inevitable. But fatigue is not a function of age, we see women of all ages dragging there bodies in complete exhaustion. If this is a familiar story please know: Fatigue is not inevitable! There’s a lot you can do to increase your energy, whether you are 20 or 50 or 100!

Feelings of fatigue usually have an obvious cause, such as a cold, lack of sleep, overwork, or stress. This type of fatigue usually clears up on its own. However, persistent fatigue that has not improved after 2 to 3 weeks may be a function of hormonal imbalance

Adrenals

Adrenals are the triangularly-shaped endocrine glands that sit on top of the kidneys. They are no bigger than a walnut and weight less than a grape. But don’t let their size fool you; these powerful little endocrine glands manufacture and secrete steroid hormones that are essential to your health and vitality such as cortisol, estrogen and testosterone. They are responsible for regulating the stress response through the synthesis of corticosteroids and catecholamines.

Corticosteroids such as cortisol are the steroid hormones involved in a wide range of physiologic systems such as stress and immune response, regulation of inflammation, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, protein break down, regulation of blood electrolyte levels, and behavior.

Catecholamines are chemical messengers derived from the amino acid tyrosine. The most plentiful are epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine(noradrenaline) and dopamine.
